    Rabbi Shmuel Weinstein

    Rabbi Shmuel Weinstein is director of the Habad House on the campuses of the Pittsburgh, PA universities. He received his smicha at the Tomhei Tmimim yeshiva in Kfar Habad, Israel, in 1986. Rabbi Weinstein worked for the Lod Airport Habad House and the Ascent Institute in Israel, and later founded the Habad House on the University of Delaware campus before moving to Pittsburgh.

    Rabbi Weinstein is a Research Biologist in the Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Current efforts are directed at instrumentation for and experimentation with novel fluorescent tagging of cells for the comprehensive analysis of the proteome of cultured cells. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1982 and a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1988. Previous to his employment at Carnegie Mellon University, Rabbi Weinstein worked as Senior Engineer/Principal Investigator of Optical Sensor Applications at the Westinghouse Science and Technology Center in Pittsburgh.
