Psychology embodies key elements of the sefirah of Knowledge (daat, da'at). Knowledge cultivates a self-awareness that makes possible a constructive and meaningful identification with the elements of one's experience. Knowledge about the nature of one's soul (nefesh, nefesh)is by itself a tool for rectification, as reflected in the verse "without da'at the soul is no good" (Proverbs 19:2). The science of psychology parallels the power of Knowledge to connect self-awareness of our experiences with the essence of our soul.
